1Suddenly there is a sensation. A build up of a noticeable pressure in my stomach. It is not merely an expectation of things to come, it is substance. I welcome it, I know now that something of Art is coming. It moves through me and takes me by the hand. Movements, but I am not thinking: let it happen. The Pressure gradually diminishes as the hand rearranges layers in a specific way. Then, finally, there it is. A set of shapes and colors. It has already a voice, but something is missing. The spirit inside loves to co-work and shed light in the dark. My brain not so much, it prefers to go at it and figure it out for himself. There is a nudge from the inside: Turn the image around. I follow the directive. Ah! I exclaim…now I see the undeniable shape of the father of all trees.
Photograpic images, emboydiment of life's shapes and textures, melancholic, catharic.
Every part a pathway. A language of growth. See your way. Connect the dots. Feel, to heal. I found a pallet that helped me to create a visual language through pixels. You are seeing original photography (up to 80 layers) cut, mixed, layered and fused digitally. New worlds emerge from the chemistry of shape and texture. I travel to capture the most poetic forms: scratchings on an ancient church floor in Leiden (Netherlands), weathered rocks in the quiet bay of a sleepy French port, the afternoon light on my favorite path thursday afternoon. I catch the details, their stories, and bring them forward in a new story. Each work offers a window to the inner world and is unique.
Digital art has the ability to exist on different levels at the same time. in printed form, in digits, projected, and in the eye of the beholder. It needs you to exist.
As I write this I am in the South of Tasmania, Australia. I look out over a rocky coast near Hobart, where I stay with friends.
It is the other side of my european world. Some paintings I made are adorning the living room. They traveled far before me. Is that what art does: Showing where we are to go? I work arts in various ways, but when I paint I work like this: present in the moment, with a variety of materials. Glues, paints, oils, different types of brushes, knives, forks and anything that attracts my attention. I wait to express the movement that present themselves. I am drawn to action painting. The art that goes faster than the brain, it is not easy, you have to let go. You have to risk, and sacrifice. But that is how we see the unseen. The new. The vision. The transformation. Thats what I want, that is what I fear. Love and fear are closely related. At least to me. But I chose to love.
I remember my first camera. It looked something like this:
It felt in my hands like the brush of a mighty painter, I could capture a story not to be forgotten in a single movement. Taking a picture says: I see you, I feel the moment, and I value. Acknowledgement of beauty, value, transcending light on the surface or gently from within, I see you! Maybe photo's are made overly important in present time, so besides the images we create, capture within the heart. Because there the real treasure lives.
I take photo's most days for arts. I am available for events but not actively advertising at the moment.
